For the Love of Pistorius

Standard

Remember my Olympic Fever post?  Tonight our family fell in love with the Olympics for another reason, South Africa’s Pistorius.

A double amputee, Oscar is breaking down Olympic barriers.  He is an example, a lesson for us all.  As he said, “A loser isn’t the person that gets involved and comes last, but it’s the person that doesn’t get involved in the first place. It’s a mentality we’ve always had. When you start something, you do it properly. The passion you start something with, you finish it off with.”

That is an athlete worth cheering for, supporting, and honoring.  The Olympics are about so much more than just winning, it is about the journey to get there, the fight to compete.  Oscar Pistorius, you have a family of cheerleaders in our household.

  1. I can definitely see where you are coming from because this is a fantastic story. It’s a story of a guy overcoming all the odds to achieve a dream that seemed impossible not too long ago. He is incredibly mentally strong and I’m sure a great person. I’m just not sure though that he deserves the opportunity based on his ability alone. It’s a tough question and I’m sure one that will continue to be questioned for years to come. Also, you think you could take a look at my latest post because I would love to hear your opinion http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2012/08/05/oscar-pistorius-should-not-be-racing/
